local rugby club updates:

registration is open across the board at all local Rugby clubs.

Los Gatos Youth Rugby: Summer touch & 7's registration:  Online registration is open now. Either go to www.losgatosrugby.com or www. unitedyouthrugby.com

All clubs that take rugby seriously will be entering teams in the upcoming tournaments. 7's rugby is not only a ton of fun, but it also only requires one day commitment: Saturday for 7's or Sunday for touch rugby. Note: We will not be entering every 7's tournament- probably 3-4.
Next year we will be starting a new club in Santa Cruz. Anyone in the club from down in that area is welcome to help. We always have some hard working volunteers that are ready to make this happen.

Pleasanton Cavaliers: Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity & Boys JV (9th, 10th, 11th & 12th grade): $350
  • Middle School (7th & 8th grade): $300
  • U8, U10 & U12 (Age 11 and younger): $275
  • Great value: This is less than $5/hour for a great rugby experience

    • 30+ practices on all-weather turf
    • 12 to 18 rugby matches vs. the best youth rugby competition in the USA
    • Rugby uniform (jersey, shorts, socks)
    • Great after-match meals

    Santa Clara youth rugby:
pulls its membership from the greater Santa Clara Valley area; including the cities of Santa Clara, San Jose, Campbell, and Milpitas.  We field teams for players from the age of 6 to 14.  Specifically, Middle School (MS), Under-12 (U12), Under-10 (U10), and Under-8 (U8) teams.

The rugby season has two parts.  The regular rugby (union) season runs from January through March, with pre-season activities starting in October and practices being held in November and December.  Summer 7's then pick up in May and run through July.

The U8s practice on Sunday of non-game weekends and play non-contact rugby; focusing on the fundamentals of the game, working as a team, and having fun.  The remaining teams practice on Thursday and Sunday (again, non-game weekends) and play contact rugby.

Santa Clara Youth Rugby is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and member of the Northern California Youth Rugby Association.

HELLO ALL, my name is Nicolas s. and I am a Rugby Enthusiast,
also a blogger and twitter account (@LLRugby). I have played high school rugby and college rugby also. I have spent two years coaching high school rugby. For many years I’ve always had this idea of a new start up rugby invitational pre-season match. Featuring two college clubs and two local high school clubs, each plays one game, winner take all. Each winner will walk away with cash prize money along with trophy and bragging rights for the fallowing year invite. Goal in mind is to help shed light on rugby in the San Francisco Bay Area, mainly San Jose ca. like many things involved with rugby the number one key problem is money. This is where you the public and rugby fans alike can help out. This is a 100% non-profit event. Any left over money generated will be reused for the fallowing year’s event or re-donated back to local youth rugby clubs, leagues. Any amount is welcomed and all donations are accepted to help fund this event. I have teams in mind and a venue along with a target date to play, but nothing can be nailed down with our some guarantee that the bill can be footed.

If you Donate: $15 YOUR NAME WILL BE PUT ON A LIST TO BE PRINTED ON THE PROGRAM AND SHOWN ON SOCIAL MEADIA AS FOUNDERS OF THE INVITAIONAL. $25 WILL GET YOU NOT JUST A NAME ADDED TO A LIST BUT ALSO ON FIELD SEATTING (PENDING PERMISSION FROM VENUE) AND MONTHLY NOTIFICATIONS ON THE STATUS OF PROGRESS BEING MADE. $100 YOU WILL RECEIVE ALL ABOVE PLUS A SHOUT OUT THROUGH OUT THE GAMES TO SHOW OUR APPRECTIAON & FREE FOOD PASS. $125 WILL MAKE YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS A SPONSOR OF THE INVITE AND YOU’RE BUESNESS LOGO, INFO ADDED TO GAME DAY PROGRAMS PLUS ALL THE ABOVE. ANYTHING OVER $150 WILL GET YOUR BUSINESS A BANNER TO BE SEEN DURING THE GAMES PLUS ALL ABOVE.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them here or email me @ lionsrfc@yahoo.com

Regional All-Star Tournaments and the High School All-American Pathway

BOULDER, Colo. -- USA Rugby is excited to announce the new pathway to becoming a High School All-American. Players looking to become a High School All-American must attend one of the seven Regional All-Star Tournaments (RASTs) being held around the country. Each of these premier tournaments will play host to some of the top high school rugby around the nation. Not only will there be a weekend full of exceptional rugby but each RAST’s location will give attendees ample opportunity to explore the surrounding areas.
Boys and girls enrolled in high school for the 2012-2013 academic year are eligible to play in these tournaments. If interested they should inquire within their home state’s rugby organization about joining an all-star or travel team that will be attending one of the RASTs.
USA Rugby Selectors will be at each RAST. These selectors will be scouting for both the Boys HSAAs and the new Girls HSAA team. Many states will be sending both a Junior Varsity - freshmen and sophomores - and Varsity - juniors and seniors – team to these tournaments. The top 50 boys and the top 50 girls selected will be invited to the first annual High School All-American Stars vs. Stripes camp held at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
