The Boston 13s have faced many challenges this season off the field,
and having the task of beating Jacksonville Axemen to reach the playoffs
was the exclamation point to a difficult season.
The 13s started off well, and were very much in the contest at the 15
min mark being able to withstand wave after wave of Axemen attack with
massive defensive efforts. Youngster Connor Leahy led the way, with
Romaen ‘Gully’ Campbell providing some great hits.
However, once Jax were able to breach the line, unfortunately for the 13s the floodgates opened.
Boston tried right to death and eventually crossed to score through Campbell, with Anthony MacQueston converting from out wide.
Not making the playoffs in 2013 is a huge disappointment for the 13s
after last season’s success, but unearthing some true rugby league
talent amongst the group is a real positive and will go a long way in
helping the club rebuild looking towards 2014.
