The Sacramento Lions defeated the Bay Barbarians 36-15 to move to 3-1 in Northern California DI league play. Paced by a man-of-the-match performance by prop forward Josh Vavao, the Lions retain 2nd place in NorCal, just behind SFGG. Also in NorCal, Olympic Club beat the East Palo Alto Razorbacks 39-29. It was the first effort for O-Club (they forfeited two early matches), and seven different players scored tries. Andrew King, John Gallo, Tanner Heaphy, Owen O'Toole, Will Johnson, Jim Reid and Torsten Christian all touched down while O'Toole added two conversions. Now 1-2, and in a two-point hole because of the forfeits, O-Club now look to move up the table. Also looking to move up the table is Old Puget Sound Beach. They traveled to the EPA Bulldogs, potentially the second-best team in the Bay Area, and put them to the sword 42-5. New OPSB Coach Justin Fitzpatrick called it a solid performance; the result moved OPSB to 1-1.
